This lifestyle post is about stopping to smell the roses, literally. 

I love flowers; giving and especially receiving. I find that flowers not only brighten a room but my mood as well. I love having scents of lavender and more floating around me while I frolic through my day. It’s little things that make YOU happy, one of my best friends told me how it’s so important to do those little things that ultimately make yourself happy. 2017 has been a selfish year for me. I am doing things for myself and focusing on bettering myself emotionally, physically and mentally. It’s something that I have not done well with over the last few years and this was my time to change for the better.

It’s okay to be a little selfish, do it in a positive way and make yourself shine a little brighter. Do what makes you happy!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Welcome to my first work wear post. I am excited to share with you some of my work wear that I style daily. Many of you may not know this but I work in a Doctor’s office as my main gig, so professional work wear is needed each day. This particular dress that I am featuring today is one of my new favorites. It’s so gorgeous and perfect for work and play!

This Loft Ruffle back swing dress is a must have for a few reasons; 1- the color is unbelievable! I have absolutely nothing this bright and bold in my closet, which is the first reason that I was drawn to this piece. 2- It’s currently 40% off (50% with a Loft card) so be sure to grab this today. 

I went up a size in this dress solely for length, I’m wearing a size large. I was a little nervous because the medium fit perfectly but the large actually has a comfortable feel and look to it without making it swim on me. You always have to be careful when sizing up for length. Now, could I have bought this in a tall online? Yes, but I hate ordering online and having to return etc so if I can avoid it, I do. 

The ruffle back is so cute but the cut is almost like a halter in the back so you need to wear a strapless bra or something that can have crossing straps. I like to have one bra that I can adjust straps and make them work for whatever outfit I am wearing. If you don’t have one and want a make shift bra clip – use a paperclip, open the clip but keep the ends together and strap your straps in! Fun fact, I do this ALL THE TIME.

Accessories – I like gold with this color purple. I paired gold bracelets and rings from Charming Charlie and my Rocksbox. This Charming Charlie clutch is great because the color is extremely versatile with many different colors. I like to pair it for a little extra “dress” if you will. Clutches add a little “something something” to dress up any look. Now for shoes – not featured here – I wore little black flats but I also had brown wedges to choose from as well.

Also, you can always pick some flowers from your jobs garden to brighten your day and add an extra touch to your picture for the day!

Happy Wednesday! 

First, I am NOT happy to be back at work. Absolutely killing me. BUT! I am so excited to share my first work out Wednesday post. Now, it’s been a while since my phone incident, and for those of you who are new here’s what’s cooking. About two months ago I made a lifestyle change to get in motion. I signed up for a gym membership, and have been going pretty faithfully (minus my time in Hawaii).

So every Wednesday I am sharing a work out Wednesday post – this can be anything from gym info, motion inspiration etc. the possibilities are endless! This week I am going to share some of the adventures and physical activity that I endured in Hawaii. Yes, endured is the right word. HOT, HOT, HOT weather and lots of hiking means that I am still currently recovering from these excursions!


One of the first things that we did was a hike that had an incredible view. This particular path was paved, which oddly had more resistance on my legs/knees/back than anticipated. The view was 100% worth the pain, it was absolutely stunning.

I really worked on engaging my core and keeping my heart rate up while walking a few miles up this mountain. When able, whether stepping up steps or climbing on cliffs, I made sure to do some accurate squats to engage my legs and gluts.

We also were able to scale a mountain to get down to the Tide Pools. This was more tricky but absolutely worth it once we were able to cool down in this beautiful pool. Crystal clear and cool! I loved floating around and relaxing with my family during this time. It was, by far, one of my favorite parts of the trip.

All of the work out gear that I wore while in Hawaii was either Lou & Grey or Old Navy. Stay tuned for next week, I will post more on those looks for you!


I won’t lie to you, this morning it was tough to get out of bed. If it wasn’t for having my good friend Melissa come with me I may have slept it off. One side note about myself, I am a planner. I plan out my whole day, week and month ahead of time. So when I was planning on doing Zumba this morning and couldn’t because I was called into work earlier I was less than thrilled. I didn’t let that stop me though! I went with Melissa, we worked out and overall took care of business.

Today was a brief workout for me due to traffic getting to the Cape. I did 15 minutes of cardio on the Elliptical, 5 minutes on the Stair Master, then a few ab exercises that my roommate had shown me from our last work out session. It felt good to get at least 45 minutes in and be active. So, some struggles. I have a hard time doing cardio, it’s boring to me. I like to be doing something fun, not just running or bouncing around on a machine in a stationary position. Also, I struggle with the Stair Master because those steps are so small and my feet are so big. (tall girl problems, I know.)

I am always looking for other exercises, or ways to make my work out fun. I also encourage my readers to send me an email/DM on Instagram/comment suggestions. Today’s fitness post was a Zumba class that I did with my Mom and friend/co-worker. This was my first time with this instructor and I have to say she was great. She had amazing energy and the moves really impacted my whole body! I love feeling a full body work out, and she definitely gave that to me. The music was great, the class was fun and the moves were perfect for the mood/music/all ages. 

One thing that I really liked about this class was the incorporation of arm movements. I am always watching the instructors feet because I am clumsy, but I really noticed how she used her arms. I really felt soreness in my arms while I was dancing and today they feel amazing. Even felt the burn during my work out this morning. It felt like she made routines with such intention to each part of your body, I had not experienced that with the other instructors. I will definitely be heading back to her on a Friday morning if I am able to come. 

05/25/17 – off day from the gym! 

Today I had evening plans so there was an off day for me from the gym. My lifestyle post today really had me torn. What did I want to share. I have been doing a lot with working out, but I don’t want to be repetitive. I want to share with you new content! Today I want to give you the update that I am really working on, positivity. Sometimes I can get overwhelmed, annoyed and really negative when I am at work. For those of you who have worked jobs that you do not love, you know what I am talking about. This job for me is an “in betweener” for me. This is not a career for me, it’s the job before I get my career. It can be really hard being in that limbo phase, I struggle with it daily.

Little things can just put you over the edge, negative people have a weird impact on you. One of the great things about my job is that I have wonderful people that I am working alongside. My physicians and nurses are amazing, but the job itself? Not so much. One of the other schedulers I work with sits at my desk on Friday’s when I am off, she always leaves me little “love notes” for when I come in on Monday. I really found that this brightened by spirits and starts my week off in a positive manner. I run into the office sometimes looking forward to the new inspiration that she leaves me. What a joy that is! Find little ways to start your week off in a positive light, make that a routine so that you can start with the right attitude!

Hey hey! Here’s my daily work out recap for you. Today I had the pleasure of working out with my friend/roommate Krissy! She goes to the gym regularly, sometimes more than once a day, so I brought her along with me to give me a little work out. Let me tell you, she had me feeling things that I had not felt since college! It was just what I was looking for, although extremely challenging. We did free weights and other exercises that gave a full body work out.

 Here is an overview of our workout! Feel free to try this at home, and with a friend if you want to have some company! We had 3 sessions that we worked through, each with a few exercises and some weight exercises too. The first group of exercises were renegade rows – 10 reps/side, plank jacks and crossovers and then runners for 20 seconds each. Let me tell you – these plank jacks, crossovers and runners were HARD even for just 20 seconds. I had the hardest time with the runners, I’m not sure if my legs are just too long to pull up that high to my chest or what but it was a huge struggle. If you want a good work out definitely give those a try. The renegade runners were hard for me to do without my knees on the ground. Eventually I will gain the ab and arm strength to do them full plank.

 Group two – weight runs with high knees for 30 seconds, weighted ab twists and toe touches. Weight runs were good until the 3rd set and then my arms and legs were killing. High knees and lifting a weight up and down over your head after a while can really give you a burn. (a good one of course!) I personally love weighted ab twists, I’m not quite at a place to do them without my feet on the ground, but I will work on that. And toe touches are also good because you are doing a sit up too. I had to do that with my feet under something but again, eventually I will do those free of any help/restraint.

 Last group – squat jumps, bicep curls and weighted side bends. We didn’t do the squat jumps but we did to the bicep curls 10-15 reps and weighted side bends. I like these because they are low resistance but really help you feel the difference.

 I absolutely loved this workout and I slept harder that night than I have in a very long time. I am looking forward to next week’s workout with Krissy! She really should change jobs, get some certification and be a trainer but that’s just my opinion. She really knew how to encourage me and help me modify exercises based on my back and strength. I really had a great time and had a strong work out!



 Let me tell you how much I LOVE ZUMBA! Tonight I am feeling the burn! There are a few different instructors at the gym that I go to and they are unreal. The woman who taught tonight was so intense, I have a feeling I may be hurting tomorrow. 55 minutes of non-stop dance, fast paced dance.

 Zumba is a great work out; dance with the combination of salsa, hip hop, reggae, samba, mambo and more. It’s an intense body work out that really touches each main body group. The twists and turns, squats and arm motions are being worked out and the best part is you don’t even know it’s happening. That is the best way for me to work out, not thinking about it just having fun! I think that it’s also important to take classes with different instructors. They are all so different and have different styles that really can work you out in different ways. Do not be intimidated when you hear about intense teachers, those are simply challenges for you to work through and your body will thank you for it later!

 I wish I had the dedication to go to the gym more, but I just don’t enjoy it. Running, ellipticals and weights are not fun for me. I wish that I could change that mentality, and some say after a few weeks I might, but for where I am right now it’s just not something I want to spend tons of time doing. So I’m going to continue to get a great cardio workout by spinning and dancing through life at Fit Factory. If you are in the area and ever want to join, PLEASE come! One of the reasons that I started this lifestyle section of my blog was so that I can hold myself accountable to a healthier lifestyle. Not just fitness but that is definitely going to be a large part of this blog. I haven’t been feeling good about myself, and I mean like I have been feeling weighed down. I decided it was time to make a change last week and it’s been going great so far. Here, I would like to share some of my joys, and struggles, with starting back up at a gym and trying some new recipes and healthy foods.

 Spin class – well let me tell you about this. From a strictly tall woman perspective, a little bit of a struggle. Fit Factory had a great instructor, I wish I could remember her name, but she was fantastic! Came right over and helped me attempt to set up my bike so that I could participate. Although we couldn’t get everything to the exact height it should be she was able to get me to a comfortable position. Being tall can have its disadvantages here, everything needs to be at a certain height and position and unfortunately when you have legs like mine you have to adjust to whatever can be done.

 55 minutes of an intense combination of biking with resistance was invigorating. I haven’t done a spin class before so this was something that my body was not ready for. My legs and arms were feeling the burn in a way no work out had ever made me feel. It’s amazing how different work outs can impact your body. I really enjoyed spin class, the only downside for me was some minor back pain. I have scoliosis so that was a factor with having the bike not quite set up where everything should be. Definitely a great experience that I will do again, just probably not daily.

 I highly recommend the Fit Factory in Kingston. Their trainers and instructors are extremely knowledgeable and their classes are intense and fun. Since I am not a runner and I don’t really like the gym in general, the classes are the way to go for me and I am enjoying them immensely to the point where I have even gone by myself! Iced coffee protein shake – 2 cups ice, 1 cup cold brew coffee, 1 scoop vanilla or chocolate protein powder, 1 frozen banana, ¾ of a cup of unsweetened almond milk.

 Berry Blast – 1 cup raspberries, 1 cup blueberries, 1 cup strawberries, 1 cup spinach

 Sweet Sunrise – 1 cup raspberries, 1 orange, ½ banana, 1 cup mango

 Green Monster – 1 grapefruit, 1 banana, 1 cup pineapple, 1 cup spinach

 Blueberry, Avocado, Mango – ½ avocado, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1.5 cups of mango, 1 cup blueberries, 1 tablespoon chia seeds, 1 teaspoon maca powder, 2 tablespoons almond butter, 1.5 cups of coconut water

 Dark Chocolate and Banana – 1 cup spinach, 1 banana, 1 cup of almond milk, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 tablespoon coco powder, 3 tablespoons chia seeds

 Spinach Banana Protein Smoothie – ½ banana, 1 large handful of spinach, 1 scoop of vanilla powder, 1 tablespoon almond butter, 2/3 cup of greek yogurt, ¾ cup of water

 Pineapple Kale – 2 cups of raw kale, ¼ cup pineapples, ¾ cup almond milk, 1 banana, 1 tablespoon honey, ¼ cup greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons peanut butter

 Oatmeal cookie – 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, ½ cup uncooked oatmeal, 1.5 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 cup almond milk, 1 cup ice


So this past week I joined the gym. This was something that I had been hemming and hawing over for quite some time. I want to make sure that I get myself in shape. I want to be healthy. I did my first spin class the other day and it was amazing. Totally hurt, in so much pain, but so worth it. I have been going with my accountability partner, Kayla, and she has been really awesome about encouraging me to go and make a routine.

One thing that I am awful with is making a routine, especially since I hate working out. Having someone there to hold you accountable is HUGE. Never do life alone, make sure that you have someone there to be there for you. Here is my accountability partner, Kayla! Keep scrolling for an ab workout to try!

Finding an ab workout is always a struggle for me. I have a bad back so it’s really hard to find something that doesn’t hurt. Well I found some exercises that have been really helpful and easy to do on a daily basis. Give it a try, let me know what you think!

Today’s lifestyle post comes from a real place. I’m not sure about you guys but I have a hard time getting motivated to do anything physical anymore. If it requires me eating healthy.. gross. Currently struggling to eat salads, I mean salads are literally the worst. It’s so hard to go to the gym – why do I need to pay to be healthy? I’m so frugal (or cheap some might say) it really didn’t hit me until recently when I knew I had to make a lifestyle change.

People who know me really well know that I work a lot, multiple jobs and lots of hours. People who know me also know that I also like to play. I like to be with my friends, be social and explore. So after some time my body said NO! I was so sick, it was truly awful. Well, it really got me thinking about how I was not living healthy. So the other day I started day 1 back at the gym. I did Zumba and it was so fun. I haven’t been back since just because of my schedule but starting next week I will be all in, full throttle.

Sometimes you need a little encouragement but I need accountability so I am so thankful to Kayla (one of my fellow Loft girls) who is going to help get myself back in shape. I am looking at going to Fit Factory


One of the biggest blessings for me is that I am an Aunt. Well, I’m an Aunt now for the second time to another precious little boy. Welcome to the world, Jameson. I cannot wait to love you, teach you and pray for you every single day.
